Edith Calamia, D.O., M.P.H., C.M.D.
Edith A. Calamia, D.O., M.P.H., C.M.D., is the chief medical officer of Magellan Complete Care (MCC), responsible for oversight of all clinical programs across our Medicaid and Medicare health plans. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Calamia is a mission-driven physician leader with proven success in quality and disease management. She has years of expertise in delivering clinical excellence and affordability across multiple sectors and specialties in healthcare.
Prior to joining Magellan in 2019, Dr. Calamia held several leadership positions at UnitedHealth Group. Most recently she was their national senior medial director of community and state, where she worked closely with health plans on the clinical continuum model and was responsible for the oversight of all Medicaid health plans.
In 2011, she served as the medical director for long-term care where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations. Immediately following that role, she was UnitedHealth Group’s chief medical officer until 2015, where she had direct oversight of two large Medicaid health plans with a total of approximately 650,000 lives.
Dr. Calamia earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Nova Southeastern University and her master of public health from the University of South Florida. She completed her residency at Staten Island University Hospital in New York where she also served as chief resident and completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine.
